- Consider the fixtures

Each fixture needs to be linked to the rest of the plumbing system, which usually means running pipes through the walls to connect it. Make sure you plan those pathways carefully and position your fixtures in such as a way so that the pipes can do the job in a practical manner.
- Water pressure counts
In most cases, you’ll need ¾ inch pipe to handle your water needs with the correct amount of pressure. If you’re dealing with a well and pump system, however (which is not uncommon here in the desert) or you have some other special needs, then your plumber may need to alter the size of the piping. That has an impact on how much piping you need, where you can run it in the walls and other considerations. You’ll need to speak with the plumber before that happens.
- Hot water is important
If you’re adding a new shower, sink or other fixture that requires hot water, make sure your water heater can handle the additional load. In most cases it can, but if it can’t you’ll need to plan for the extra workload and factor that into your preparations.
