sunny-plumbersOkay, so hard times may be pushing it just a little bit. Signs of Hard Water in Your Home

The first step toward resolving a problem is always going to be recognizing that problem to begin with. The “good” news regarding hard water is that there are at least some clear signs that you are dealing with the problem on your property. Remember, hard water is water containing mineral content in too high of a concentration. Typically we’re talking about magnesium and calcium, and there are a few ways in which these contaminants will make themselves known.

  • Mineral deposits are the most obvious. Are you frequently scraping an ugly white and green crust off of your faucets and the surrounding areas? That is the result of mineral deposits left behind by hard water.
  • Does it seem like your laundry is yellowing and is just not coming out of the washing machine as clean as you’d like? This could definitely be the result of hard water impeding the cleaning process.
  • Is it also difficult to rinse soap off of your body and shampoo out of your hair? If so, then you may have hard water that is negatively affecting your own personal hygiene!
  • How is your water pressure? If you are dealing with low water pressure in your home, the actual issue may be low water flow. Why? Because hard water deposits within your pipes are letting less and less water through!

Use a Whole-House Water Softener

Point of use water filtration systems are common for improving drinking water, but a whole-house approach really cannot be beat when it comes to boosting water quality. And, you cannot really just filter hard water to improve its quality. You need a water softener in Tucson to do this.

A whole-house water softener is there to swap out hard water minerals with harmless sodium ions. It happens automatically, requiring only that you replenish the brine tank with water softening salt as needed.
